Michael Farah
Michael Farah, proprietor of Katumba Latin Entertainment and partner
of FX Hip Hop Breakers dance show, shares the philosophy that we "should
exist in a world where people, young and old, can express themselves
freely through music and dance instead of drugs, alcohol and violence."
Michael is currently touring Australia as Co Director of The Indigenous
Hip Hop Project, teaching hip hop and break dance to people of
all ages. Michael also works with a vast range of people, from
well known socialites to children within the community. Performing
with the Katumba Latin/Brazilian floor show and FX Hip Hop Breakers,
Michael often entertains at charities such as the "Reach foundation".
He has also previously performed for Lillian Frank with the "Royal
Children's Hospital Appeal" Gala dinners, and also regularly
performs at Crown Casino, The Grand Hyatt, Motor Shows, Regent
Theatre, The Convention Centre, Copacabana International, Viva
Cabaret Bar and many prestigious venues throughout Melbourne. Michael
has performed at, and currently still dances for, clubs such as
Metro, Mercury, Chasers, Warehouse, Lotus Bar, Heat, Odeon and
Sanctuary.
Michael is also a well known choreographer, most recently choreographing
for the NBL South Dragons Cheerleaders, STI Awareness Hip Hop Program
(Sexually Transmitted Infections), Women's Youth Correctional Facilities
Art program and for advertisements such as "Daewoo" Korea
(Tango Car commercial).
Along with being a heavily employed performer himself, Michael
has been sharing his knowledge, skills and energy, as a dance teacher
for 15 years. During this time, he has provided education and created
productions for dance schools and community programs throughout
Melbourne. He has worked with the Hume City Council, for Footscray,
Williamstown, Sunshine, Preston, Coburg, Gladstone Park and Brunswick
Community Centres.
Michael aims to produce work and opportunities for the community,
entertainers and the industry as a whole, creating a peaceful,
energetic environment, through the promotion of self confidence
and self expression. Michael is promoting racism awareness by most
recently working on the A.R.A.B (Anti-Racism Action Band), project,
involving secondary colleges statewide. This program creates awareness
through hip hop, rap and theatre, producing a display promoting
unity between the races, giving youths the opportunity to perform
and exhibit their achievements and messages to other schools not
yet involved in the program.
Michael hopes to travel to not only perform, but to create the
opportunity to educate today's youth in the benefits of dancing
and performing, and share the experiences he has encountered throughout
his successful, fulfilling career.
