Jacinda Richards

As well as persuing a performance career in Contemporary, West African, Jazz, Latin and Hip Hop dance Jacinda has been working passionately with children in West Melbourne communities using Hip Hop as the medium.

Jacinda has established successful Hip Hop dance programs at Flemington community centre and Western English Language School giving opportunity for youths to express through dance while promoting health, friendship and unity within racial groups. Jacinda has recently returned from her second trip to West Africa, Ghana where she trained with African footprints in Traditional West African dance. Jacinda also travelled extensively throughout East and North Africa furthering her knowledge on African culture, tradition and beliefs.

Jacinda believes that dance gives a voice to individuals that sometimes find it hard to express verbally. Through dance Jacinda has witnessed many groups and troubled communities uniting in the joy of movement and physical liberation, disregarding factors such as age, race or gender.
