Dion Brownfield

Background
Dion Brownfield has had a career in entertainment and performing
arts for over 10 years. Growing up in Echuca, Dion was involved
in almost every amateur production ranging from musical theatre,
dance, music, singing, rock eisteddfods, modeling even TV commercials.
After finishing studies at Deakin University Rusden Campus majoring
in Dance and Drama his professional career took him to places
as diverse as China, Macau, Hong Kong and around Australia dancing,
modeling, singing and teaching.
It wasn't until 2005, when Dion was invited to a small remote aboriginal
community called Yiyli in W.A to produce and choreograph the communities
Crocfest show, that as an artist his life changed. The experience
was inspirational and one that triggered a huge interest and passion
for indigenous affairs in Australia. Dion established a company
called Indigenous Hip Hop Projects (IHHP), which he now acts as
the Producer/Artistic Director. IHHP has over 25 artists who collaborate
together to facilitate projects all over Australia. The focus for
IHHP is to use the arts and hip hop to deliver positive messages
in health, education and careers. So far this year IHHP has worked
with and performed for over 45,000 kids, up skilling, inspiring
and providing role models for communities across the Nation.
